APBCA Case Study: HIV/AIDS and Drug Prevention in Indonesia - The Experience of PT Unilever

PT Unilever was one of the first companies in Indonesia to respond to HIV in the workplace and community. The company's concern about the rapid spread of HIV in Jakarta prompted the establishment of its HIV workplace and community program. The program has a strong focus on the link between HIV infection and drug use, as a key mode of HIV transmission in Indonesia is the sharing of contaminated drug injecting equipment. In addition to its workplace and community program, PT Unilever demonstrated its long-term commitment to HIV prevention by becoming one of the Indonesian Business Coalition on AIDS founding members.
