Key Facts

Myanmar is facing a generalised epidemic.

Real concern rests with prevalence of HIV/AIDS among young people (15 - 24 years of age), which is around 2.2%.

High levels of HIV/AIDS infection are also found among most at-risk groups, such as sex workers and injecting drug users. Some 43% of injecting drug users and approximately 32% of sex workers were living with HIV/AIDS in 2005.
