Key Facts

Vietnam's epidemic is continuing to rise, with HIV detected in all 64 provinces and cities.

The vast proportion of HIV infections are among injecting drug users and people buying and selling sex. Among injecting drug users high-risk behaviour such as the use of non-sterile injecting equipment is widespread. As a result HIV infection levels among injecting drug users has risen to over 30% in general and up to 60% in provinces such as Hanoi and Hai Phong.
